For video and audio, please scroll page down ERICK E Ericke's DJ-career kicked off in '86, when he started making a name for himself in Amsterdam as hip-hop DJ. In '89 he won the Dutch DMC Championship, and later that year he represented Holland in the World Finals at the Royal Albert Hall in London . In the following years his music changed, but his star kept rising. In '95 he landed the Saturday-residency in Amsterdam's house temple; the legendary RoXY. His weekly 'SWET' nights were a huge success, until '98, when a slightly over-exuberant celebration of the death of one of RoXY's founders ended in the fiery demise of Holland's most famous club ever. Being out of his steady job, didnt exactly leave Ericke out of work. His reputation as a party-starter got him booked in every corner of Holland, at any size parties, from mainstream to underground. He turned the tables at the main stage at Dance Valley, at Sensation in the Amsterdam Arena for a crowd of 40,000, but also at small clubs like Panama in Amsterdam. Ericke doesnt exactly limit himself to Holland though, and has spun across the globe, at clubs like Haoman 17 in Jerusalem, Amnesia in Ibiza, Crobar in Miami Beach and Turnmills in London. As if that wasnt enough, he also started his own night, EVE, for which he hosted the likes of David Morales, Deep Dish, Junior Sanchez, Yousef, Phats and Smalls and Felix da Housecat. His present concept Sneakerz Muzik is the platform for dutch dj/producers with sold out parties and record releases. Housequake his back 2 back collaboration with Hardsoul DJ Roog breaks down the walls at every venue they attend. As a producer Ericke has had successful solo projects, as well as successful co-productions with Olav Basoski and Matthew Dekay. With the latter he released 'This Category', which is featured on Sander Kleinenberg's Essential Mix CD. With Olav Basoski he has released several successful productions on the Work label. And his solo-project 'Make You Smile' was signed on Sander Kleinenberg's Everybody Loves Music-label. Begin 2006 Ericke- Boogie Down reached the dutch top 40 for 5 weeks. His new single The beat is Rockin' is released in several countries in Europe. Given Ericke's increased focus on the production-side of his trade, the future should only bring more for this "promising talent". |
